Monday working: love Tom Ford silk blouse and wool skirt — add Wolford tights and play with shoes and coat — because a little fun stirs the creativity

I’m working on the fifth draft of my novel. Today I’m playing The “was” Game — searching for the passive word “was” and editing the sentence to be more active. But I am essentially a cat and any amount of work beyond dressing up in pretty clothes stresses me out so I play with my outfit just to entertain myself.

I wear business clothes when I write. I have a degree in Finance and worked in real estate finance for a long time and dressing professional still makes me feel like I am working seriously. I used to work for hours on spreadsheets — tweeking numbers for feasibility projects for commercial real estate development so now my work is words in a manuscript.

I WANTED to start out the week in a Tom Ford sequin dress but chose a Tom Ford black silk blouse and wool skirt, paired with Wolford tights, and played with shoes — first Ferragamo boots then French pumps. Slung over a St. John Knit coat.

What do you wear in your closet to work on Mondays?

  1. I understand that when you dress well for work that you impose the discipline of looking good/feeling human to attribute the discipline of the business mindset to a job where you self employ as a Writer. However, I honestly feel that if I dress up as you do, I would want to be see. since this is a smoking outfit!
I on the other hand love fuzzy warm pajamas best and LL Bean’s “Wicked warm” slippers. I can easily resist the temptation to go out shopping, lunch, or even answer front door! If I looked as well as you do to work I’d want to share the occasion!
